Cesar Huerta, a Mexican winger for Pumas UNAM, has revealed he was set to join Liverpool last summer but a deal fell through. The
transfer window has just ended and Mexican โปรโมชั่น ufabet media reported that Huerta, 23, was close to a move to Liverpool. With the Reds preparing to send him on loan to Sunderland for the season.
However, the move never materialised, with sources suggesting that Championship boss Regis Le Bris rejected the offer. Huerta started in Mexico’s
0-0 friendly draw with Canada on Tuesday and was asked after the game about his move to Anfield.
“There were problems. I had packed my bags and was ready to leave. But the deal fell through because of some problems,” said the player, who has been capped 11 times by his senior team.
“Maybe a chance like that comes only once. However, if I stay focused and try to do my best with Pumas, I know that sooner or later it will happen. The opportunity will come again,”
the Guadaja product was brought in by Pumas, a top league team in Mexico, in 2022. And has since scored 17 goals and provided 12 assists in 76 matches in all competitions.
“The problem has nothing to do with our club or with Huerta’s needs,” Pumas president Luis Gonzalez explained.
“The problem is not the quality of the players, but external factors. The clubs involved saw the quality in Huerta. But there were certain situations at those clubs that made the deal impossible.”
